Fresh call for opening malls to be jointly taken by civic chiefs: NMMC commissioner

NAVI MUMBAI: NMMC commissioner Abhijit Bangar on Monday told TOI that he will discuss with his counterparts in Thane district regarding opening of the malls. Mission Begin Again guidelines have relaxed norms for certain economic and commercial activities in Maharashtra.
"The first round of talks did not result in any outcome, but now it's September and positive cases have come down in several areas.As for NMMC area, the positivity percentage to samples is 19%, that was 35 % mid-July. The doubling rate is 55 days."
Malls were not opened in the city earlier as it was feared there would be a rush from other areas because malls were closed. A simultaneous joint call for opening the malls was then looked upon as a good breakthrough for proper distribution of shoppers.
